THE ICON OF CHRIST - Human Face of God

 

The fundamental nature, history, aesthetics and symbolism of the icon have a pivotal place for the understanding of the Orthodox faith, but also of the national cultures of the countries of the “Byzantine Commonwealth”. 

The TV series “The Icon” was filmed in a high production standard, modelled after similar series on the global level, with a somewhat more artistic, “warmer” approach, suitable to the topic. A series of seven half-hour episodes is a modest contribution to the renewal of Orthodox iconodulism, an encounter with the beauty and the theological depth of the holy images of the Orthodox Church. 

It was shot in city streets and at TV studios, iconographic ateliers, in churches, monasteries and museums in Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and on Mt. Athos, while the Series makes use of the exclusive footage from the archives of St. Catherine Monastery in Sinai, and from Tretyakovskaya Gallery in Moscow.
