We
present a recent documentary with English subtitles about St. Paisios
of Mount Athos, a newly glorified saint, at St. Catherine Monastery in
Sinai.
The film "Paisios of the Holy Mountain" was made by a
Russian author/director Alexander Kouprin under the guidance of Igumen
Cyprian (Yaschenko) of the Holy Trinity - St. Sergius Lavra near Moscow,
and on the advice of Elder Euthymius of Mount Athos. It features unique
scenes of the monastery, the cell of Ss. Galaktion and Epistimi and
other majestic Sinai sites.
Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Pharan
and Raitho, Abbot of St. Catherine’s Monastery, Elder Pavlos and others
talk about their memories of St. Paisios in Sinai. The film consists of
six parts and is based on the Life Account of Elder Paisios by
Hieromonk Isaac and other sources.
It is a very special way to
gain insight into the St. Catherine Monastery's monastic life and
history, as well as desert experiences on Mt. Sinai, through the eyes
and words of Elder Paisios - one of the most loved saints of the 20th
century.
We are grateful to the film creators for the permission
